Can Podiatry be Bulk Billed? YES
Chronic conditions such as diabetes and arthritis often have associated foot problems which can impact on mobility and independence. Therefore, some of your patients with chronic and complex conditions may benefit from a referral from their General Practitioner under this scheme.
The Medicare Allied Health Initiative Program allows people with chronic diseases who are being managed by their GP to access medical assistance under the Chronic Disease Management Plan/ Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan.
Residents should discuss their eligibility with their practising GP.
Please note the following features of a EPC Plan:
- Patients must be under an EPC plan prepared and lodged by their GP with the Health Insurance Commission
- Patients are entitled to a total of 5 visits per year to allied health practitioners (not 5 visits per practitioner)
- Referrals must be on the correct EPC plan referral form.
